Individual Career Academic Plan

Every student 9-12th grade has an ICAP, it is their four year plan to graduation. We define it through the three E's, Enrollment (enrolling into a post secondary education), Enlistment (enlisting into the military), or Employment. Identifying their E as a freshman allows them to create a pathway through their academics throughout high school. Every student has the opportunity to explore career options through surveys and searches, they take ASVAB tests for proficiency ratings that also gives data in military aptitude but can also align career industry standards, and they also have opportunities for hands on learning to hone their skills for future careers.

College Testing
  1. SAT: The SAT is the nation’s most widely used college admission exam. Every student will take the SAT their Junior year at Soroco HS in the Spring.

The College Board's mission is to connect students to college success and opportunity. College Board services include college readiness, college admission, guidance, assessment, financial aid, enrollment, and teaching and learning.

  1. ACT: The ACT is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides a broad array of assessment, research, information, and program management solutions in the areas of education and workforce development.

  2. Accuplacer: The Accuplacer test is used to assess student preparedness for introductory credit-bearing college courses and concurrent enrollment courses offered through CNCC and CMC.

  3. ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery): The ASVAB is administered by the United States Military Entrance Processing Command, used to determine qualification for enlistment in the United States Armed Forces.
