The South Routt School District is located in rural Northwest Colorado, nestled at the base of the Flat Top Wilderness. Our schools are located on two campuses. The Elementary and Preschool are located in the heart of Yampa, while our secondary campus sits atop the hill and overlooks the quaint town of Oak Creek.
Our mission is to develop career-connected, community-based, and academically prepared students in a safe environment.
We strive to be the best small school district in Colorado, meeting the academic, social-emotional, and future needs of our students.

South Routt School District is excited to announce the completion of a student-led project made possible through the Craig-Scheckman Family Foundation’s 20th Anniversary initiative.
A dedicated group of SOROCO High School students from the Class of 2027 spearheaded an effort to bring an official walking track to the existing path surrounding the football field. Their vision has become a reality with the development of a new 8-foot-wide track featuring two 42-inch-wide walking lanes.
Upgrade will begin on June 15 with the delivery of five truckloads of road base, which will be staged around the edge of the football field. Throughout July and August, SOROCO MS/HS will partner with Rekortan, a global leader in athletic track surfaces. Rekortan has installed more World Athletics-certified tracks than any other company in the world and is part of Sport Group, the only fully integrated supply chain in the track industry.
The road base will be distributed and prepared for asphalt paving, followed by the final surfacing phase using Rekortan’s high-performance Gel top-layer system. During upgrades, the community members are asked to maintain a safe distance from all materials, equipment, and work areas.
Once completed, the track will provide a valuable resource for students, staff, and community members alike. Research continues to demonstrate the positive impact walking can have on both physical and mental health, making this project an important investment in the well-being of our entire community.
An official groundbreaking ceremony will be announced at a later date.

The South Routt School District has created the SOROCO Online Academy (SOA) to offer an option for families with current homeschooled students living within the school district an online education program. SOROCO high school currently offers online classes through Colorado Digital Learning Solutions and is now able to expand upon the high school curriculum to the elementary level. This opportunity will allow homeschool students to enter back into the district, receive an education, and still take classes from their homes.
Students wishing to enroll in SOA must register online in ALMA through the district, SOA registration. They will need to meet with Jeannie Logan to review requirements and sign the SOA contract. During this time, provided class offerings will be presented and a schedule will be created. Students will be required to pay the $25 registration fee per class, and any fees associated with supplies.
High school students will need to obtain 26 credits to graduate, must maintain passing grades to be eligible, and meet the weekly minimum work/login requirements.
Middle school students must enroll in all core classes, meet the weekly minimum work/login requirements, and also maintain passing grades for eligibility.
Elementary students have core offerings and will be required to meet the weekly minimum work/login requirements.
Students must be enrolled and have met with Jeannie no later than August 20, 2026. For more information contact Jeannie jlogan@southrouttk12.org
Mrs Gates and Mrs Samuelson will be back in the building in August and will be able to assist with registration at that time.
