Mission and Vision
Mission:
The mental health providers at South Routt School District provide equitable access to data-driven, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive comprehensive school counseling programs. We advocate and inspire all students to maximize their unique potential. The school counselor will provide students with a positive school climate that cultivates acceptance, empathy, and perseverance through school wide activities, classroom instruction, small group, and individual counseling.
Vision:
The school counseling program is dedicated to recognizing each student as a unique individual and preparing every student socially, academically, and emotionally for present and future challenges. We advocate for every student and work in collaborative partnerships to empower students to become lifelong learners who are responsible, productive citizens. In partnership with other educators, parents and guardians, and the community, the school counselor will advocate for a school environment that will address the academic, social-emotional, and college and career development of all students in order to ensure lifelong empowerment.

What does the School Counselor do?
School counselors make a measurable impact in every student's life, assisting with academic, career and personal/social development. Professional school counselors are trained in both educating and counseling, allowing them to function as a facilitator between parents, teachers and the student in matters concerning the student's goals, abilities and any areas needing improvement. School counselors provide services not only to students in need, but to all students and staff.
